What a welder does on a project
A welder joins pipe, plate and structural steel to drawings and a welding procedure specification (WPS). On a construction job or during a shutdown, welding often sets the pace: pipe systems and steelwork have to be joined, inspected and accepted before anyone else can move on.
So it matters that the welder who turns up actually holds the processes and positions your scope calls for. We always start from your requirements and match people to them, not the other way round.
Typical tasks
- Pipe welding in carbon and stainless steel, including fixed positions
- Structural welding of beams, platforms, frames and brackets
- TIG, MAG, MMA (stick) and flux cored welding to the job WPS
- Repair and maintenance welding during shutdowns
- Joint preparation, tacking, grinding and self inspection
- Working with NDT, QA and pipe fitters to get joints accepted
Certificates and courses we typically check
The paperwork you need depends on your scope and your quality system. Before a welder travels, we review their documents against your requirements. Typically that covers:
- Welder qualification to EN ISO 9606 covering the relevant processes, materials, dimensions and positions
- Valid prolongation of the qualification, usually confirmed by an employer or inspector
- Safety courses the site requires, such as hot work and working at height
- ID, right to work where relevant, and a CV with previous projects
How we deliver welders
Andrei chooses people he has worked with or knows through their work. He matches their experience to your materials and processes and checks certificates before the start. If he does not have the right person, he says so.
We arrange a weld test before the start if the job calls for one. Andrei is there at the start and remains your contact.
Workforce Partner is the employer and handles contracts, wages, tax, insurance, workwear and personal PPE. Our people normally work with your tools.
One clear hourly rate for the work. We arrange housing and transport. Housing costs depend on the location and are agreed for each job.
