What a steel fabricator does on a project

A steel fabricator builds and installs steel structures, platforms, stairs, handrails, vessels and machine parts. Many also weld, but their strength is reading a drawing, setting out, fitting and assembling so parts fit on site the first time.

In offshore fabrication, at shipyards and in industrial maintenance, fabricators are often the people who sort out everything that is not on the standard list. That takes experienced people who can work on their own within your rules.

Certificates and courses we typically check

We start from your requirements and typically check:

• Trade certificate as a fabricator, smith or similar, or documented experience
• Welder qualification to EN ISO 9606 where the job includes coded welding
• Safety courses the site requires, such as working at height, crane and rigging
• A CV with previous projects, known from previous work
